About Us
The Arc of Allegan County advocates for the inclusion and dignity of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDDs) throughout the county.
We proudly serve as the local affiliate of The Arc Michigan and The Arc of the United States.

Arc’s Mission
Our mission is “to advocate for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities to live, learn, work, and play with respect, dignity, and meaningful involvement in their communities.”
We believe those with an IDD deserve to live, learn, work, and play meaningfully and with respect in their communities. Through education, research, and advocacy, we work to improve the quality of life for children and adults with cognitive, intellectual, and developmental disabilities and those who care for them.
We also strive to improve support systems, connect families to resources and social activities, inspire our shared communities to become more welcoming and accessible, and influence related public policy changes.
All of our services are free.
The Arc of Allegan County’s Statement on diversity:
“The Arc believes that society in general and The Arc in particular benefit from the contributions of people with diverse personal characteristics (including but not limited to race, ethnicity, religion, age, geographic location, sexual orientation, gender and type of disability).”
